Jeremy Snyder is only 13 years old, but that’s not keeping the Mount Solo Middle School 7th-grader from competing for the top prize in a playwriting contest for the Oregon Children’s Theater. Snyder will be featured at tonight’s Wordfest event at The Brits on Commerce Avenue in Longview, where he’ll be reading from his play, titled “Bird of L. A.” Snyder has been chosen as one of six finalists out of 65 entries submitted for OCT’s “The Bully Project,” where kids were asked to write 10-minute plays dealing with the issue of bullying. All six plays will be presented in staged readings that will be held at OCT’s black box theater on May 30th. Wordfest is a monthly gathering of local writers and readers, held at 6 pm on the first Tuesday of each month at The Brits Tea Shoppe in downtown Longview.
