A ribbon-cutting is planned for 11 am today, celebrating the cleanup of the Terry’s Auto Salvage property in north Kelso. City officials say that this “blighted and contaminated property” has been a nuisance and public health hazard for years; the city has been able to acquire state and federal grant funding that has paid for the removal of old cars and hundreds of scrap tires. Work is now under way to remove contaminated soil from the site. Plans have been developed to re-purpose the site as a self-help housing site for Lower Columbia CAP; completion of the soil removal will prepare that property for that project. Today’s ceremony at 1124 North Pacific Avenue in Kelso is set for 11 am, and everyone is invited to attend.
