Thanksgiving Storm

Posted on 25th November 2011 at 08:26

We got some pretty strong weather over the Thanksgiving Day holiday, even with some lightning and thunder rumbling through overnight. Even with the gusty winds and rain that was heavy at times, impacts weren’t too bad. The Cowlitz PUD reports no power outages, and local roadways are clear. There could be some debris on the street as you make your way in, but we don’t have any closures or blockages to report this morning. This morning’s rainfall totals for reporting stations around the area show that we got six-tenths of an inch of rain over the past 24 hours, or maybe just a bit more in some spots. The strongest winds blew through late yesterday morning and early afternoon. Kelso had a peak gust of 39 miles an hour, Longview had 35, Kalama got a peak gust of 35, and Castle Rock had a gust of 32 miles an hour. We’re supposed to get a break from the strong weather today, as the rain tapers off, even with some partly sunny skies later on.
