The Sheriff’s Office reports taking at least three people into custody in connection with a burglary investigation in the Toutle area. Around 12:45 pm, a man living up on Gilmore Road reported seeing a suspicious car, possibly casing a neighbor’s house. When he approached the car, the people inside said that they were looking for a friend, but they couldn’t name that person. Deputies checked the area, and found evidence that several homes may have been broken into. They stopped the suspects near the intersection of Morning Star Road and SR 504, eventually taking Eric Paul Kornbrust, 24, Shannon Faye Downey, 20, of Kelso, and David Anthony Scouller, 26, of Toutle into custody. Charges include first-degree burglary, residential burglary, possession of stolen property and trafficking in stolen property. The car that the group was driving was also seized and subjected to a search warrant. Joanna Leanne Van Hoozer, 19, of Clatskanie was also arrested on a warrant during this investigation, which is continuing.
