Some of us may still have some traveling to do over this holiday weekend, and you still may need to exercise some care. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the South Washington Cascades and the Columbia River Gorge, with heavy snow possible in the mountains and freezing rain in the Gorge. Shortly after 4 am, the Weather Service reported light freezing rain falling in the Troutdale area. No significant accumulation is expected at this time, but they do say caution is needed. East of Cascade Locks, there’s a bigger threat of ice, snow or sleet. Things are expected to warm up later today. In the mountains, snow levels are dropping down to about 2,000 feet, with heavy snow expected through the day today. If you’re heading over a mountain pass, be ready for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
