The United Way of Cowlitz County is announcing that a successor for Bob Johnson has been selected, reporting that Kalei LaFave is now in the position. They say that LaFave took over the post on the 22nd of this month, working with Johnson for several days to become oriented in the post. LaFave is a Cowlitz County native, and has extensive experience in the local area as the catering director for the Red Lion Hotel in Kelso, and as banquet manager for the Monticello Hotel in Longview. She also worked as an EMT for Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue. United Way Board President Larry Voos says that LaFave’s local background was a factor, along with her extensive record as a volunteer, working on the parks board, as a sign language interpreter, on youth baseball and teaching CPR. They say LaFave has hit the ground running, already meeting with partner agencies, and making presentations about United Way in several workplace settings. Johnson moved into his new position with the St. John Medical Center Foundation on Monday of this week.
