Lewis County Deputies recovered a stolen car, a stolen gun and arrested a repeat offender from Portland Tuesday afternoon in a traffic stop near Vader. Around 4 pm on Tuesday, a Deputy spotted a suspicious car leaving a piece of property near the intersection of SR 506 and E Street in Vader. The owner was away, and had requested authorities to “keep an eye” on things. The Deputy stopped the 1986 Mazda RX7, and a check of the license number showed that it had been stolen from Portland on the 3rd of this month. Perry, 36, of Portland was arrested at that time, and his female passenger was detained. A search of the car turned up a Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol, along with a loaded 30-round magazine. A check on that gun showed that it had been reported as being stolen in Portland back on October 24th. The background check on Perry shows that he is a convicted felon, with several convictions on his record. Perry was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of a stolen car, possession of a stolen gun and illegal possession of a firearm. The 34 year-old woman was eventually released; authorities say that they don’t believe she knew that the car was stolen, or that the gun was in the car.
