An early-morning fire destroyed a home in Vader, and also put a woman in the hospital with second-degree burns. The Centralia Chronicle reports that the fire was discovered a little before 1 am yesterday, and by the time fire crews arrived, flames were coming out of all of the windows and had spread to the roof. The fire also spread to a large fire tree behind the house, along with a neighboring home. The woman who had been inside suffered burns to her arms and legs, and was taken to Centralia Providence Hospital for treatment. They got the fire on the neighboring house out before if did significant damage, and then turned their attack to the original home. About two dozen firefighters from Vader, Winlock, Toledo and Cowlitz District 6 in Castle Rock were involved in the effort, which took more than two hours to contain. The cause remains under investigation.
