You can now ride along with Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Deputies as they’re involved in a high-speed chase on I-5. The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the dash-cam video of last week’s chase that started near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and then ended near Kalama, when the suspect crashed near the railroad tracks. The video shows the suspect weaving in and out of traffic, speeding at 100 miles an hour or more as the chase went south on the freeway. The video shows the suspect clipping a semi, nearly hitting another deputy’s car, and then causing a pickup and a horse trailer to lock up its brakes. The chase started after Christopher Bleavins, 35, of Lakewood threatened a “Las Vegas-style” event, and then he sped south on the freeway. No weapons were found in Bleavins’ car; it’s also noted that he’s retired military, reportedly dealing with a head injury and PTSD. Bleavins continues to be held in the Cowlitz County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, felony eluding, reckless endangerment and hit-and-run, with bail of $100,000.
