The reconstruction of the Wal-Mart store at 38th and Ocean Beach Highway is now complete, with a ribbon-cutting to re-open the store held yesterday morning. The new store has been completely rebuilt as a Super Wal-Mart, with a full grocery, along with the other departments that were featured in the old store. The new building is 154,000 square feet, 18 percent larger than the original building. It’s reported that 330 people now work at this new store, and with this, Wal-Mart now employs about 1,000 people in Cowlitz County. The Daily News reports that Wal-Mart is now the fourth-largest employer in Cowlitz County, coming in behind PeaceHealth, Weyerhaeuser and Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging.
