Scappoose will hold its annual Christmas lighting event this evening. The historic Watts House will be lit up, along with Heritage Park and along Highway 30. The Scappoose High School choir will kick things off at 6 pm, local author Trish Brown will read her children’s Christmas story at 6:30 pm, then at 6:45, the light switch will be flipped. Santa arrives on a fire truck at 7 pm, then he’ll go into the Watts House to hear from the kids. Starting tomorrow, letters to Santa can be dropped off at the Scappoose City Hall. Those letters will be delivered to “Santa’s Helpers” at the Scappoose Senior Center, who will then make sure that Santa replies.
