Oregon State Police say seven people were injured in a two-car crash that closed Highway 30 in the Wauna area for about two hours yesterday afternoon. OSP says that a Buick LeSabre driven by Jacob Sullivan, 16, of Kelso, crossed the center line of the highway at about 3:40 pm, then collided with a eastbound SUV driven by Heather Gibson, 29, of Vancouver. Firefighters had to extricate Leigha Warner, 16, of Kelso, who was in the front seat of Sullivan’s car. They also had to extricate Mary Millar, 83, who was a passenger in Gibson’s SUV. Sullivan, Warner, Gibson and her two children were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria for treatment; Millar was LifeFlighted to OHSU, and another passenger in Sullivan’s car, David Bayer, 16, of Kelso was taken to St. John Medical Center. He’s listed in satisfactory condition today. It’s noted that everyone involved was wearing a seat belt or was in a child safety seat. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
