We’re starting a transition to some warmer weather, but that transition could be a bit messy. Some light snow has fallen in the Kelso-Longview area overnight, coating local streets and roadways. Temperatures are still below freezing, so that snow is packing down quickly, turning into ice in some spots. The Weather Service has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the local area until 1 pm today, predicting snow showers with areas of freezing drizzle through the morning hours. The potential for icy roadways is extremely high, so you’ll need to budget some extra time for this morning’s trip into work or school. Total accumulations are expected to be in the area of an inch, but the combination of snow and freezing drizzle will be making for some hazardous driving conditions. Emergency responders have already been dealing with numerous fender-benders, and most schools are also closing for the day.
