The annual Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce Autumn Fest and Punkin’ Chunkin” starts at 3 pm on Friday, then runs on Saturday at the Two Islands Farm Market, located at Stockhouse’s Farm on Birnie Slough Road. You’ll be able to do your own “punkin’ chunkin’” by using the “Rogulator,” or you can even bring your own well-engineered machine.
The Castle Rock Quilters and St. Paul Lutheran Church will hold their combined quilt show and sale from 10 am to 4 pm on Friday and 10 to 3 on Saturday at the church on First Street in Castle Rock. Donations will be accepted at the door, with proceeds going to fight world hunger.
The Mark Morris Foundation is holding a fundraising barbecue prior to Friday night’s game against Woodland. This will get started at 5:30 pm, with a burger, chips, a soda and a cookie available for $6.
The annual Harvest Classic 10K run and walk will be held Saturday morning, starting at 8:30 am on New York Street, right off 7th Avenue. Registration at the LifeWorks building will run from 7 to 8 am. Sponsored by the Longview Early Edition Rotary, the event is a fundraiser for the Help Food Warehouse.
He’s a finalist from “America’s Got Talent,” illusionist and comedian William Scott will perform Saturday at the Kelso Eagles, a fundraiser for the Kelso High School Spanish Class trip. Tickets are available at Kelso True Value Hardware and Marine, the Hillcrest Store and at Flying K in West Kelso. They’ll also be available at the door. Shows are planned at 5 and 8 pm.
The Cowlitz County Community Farmer’s Market continues this weekend, with its Customer Appreciation Day on Saturdays in the parking lot on 7th Avenue, across from the Cowlitz County Expo Center. Hours are 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
There’s “A Call to Pray for Peace” on Sunday at the Civic Circle in Longview, looking to help ease tensions in connection with the recent turmoil at the Port. All are invited to take part, starting at 1 pm on Sunday. The event is being arranged by the Kelso-Longview Ministerial Association.
There’s a St. Francis “Blessing of the Animals” going on Sunday afternoon at the Humane Society of Cowlitz County. Reverend Kathleen Patton with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will conduct the blessing. They’ll also have some Guide Dog puppies available. The Humane Society is located at 909 Columbia Boulevard in Longview.
