Utility relocation work connected to the West Main Street Realignment Project is now working its way south on 1st Avenue in Kelso, with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction between West Main and Lincoln Street. Signs and flaggers are helping to control traffic through the construction zone. The City of Kelso says that you can expect traffic delays and localized road closures on Catlin Street between 1st and 4th, but local access will be maintained. This week will also see installation of storm manholes and pipe on Catlin between 1st and 4th, along with installation of sanitary sewer manholes on 1st between Catlin and Lincoln. Demolition of buildings in the 200 block between West Main and Catlin is also expected to get into high gear, but that work should not affect traffic. Traffic congestion is possible in this area; you’re asked to slow down, be aware of the activity, and follow the flagger’s directions to safely maneuver through the area. Call the City of Kelso at 423-6590 if you have other questions.
