It looks like we’re starting the work week off with a strong weather system, with wind and rain in the forecast for today and tonight. The Weather Service has a High Wind Warning up on the South Washington and North Oregon coasts today, starting at 8 am and going until 6 pm. Sustained southerly winds of 30 to 40 miles an hour are expected on the beaches and headlands, with gust of up to 80 miles an hour expected. In the Coast Range, the wind ranges are expected to be 30 to 40 miles an hour, with gusts of up to 70 miles an hour. In this area, a Wind Advisory will be up from 7 am until 7 pm, with sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles an hour, and gusts of between 40 and 50 miles an hour. The winds are expected to pick up in the mid-morning, they will be the strongest during the afternoon, and then should die down in the evening. Winds this strong could break limbs and cause other damage.
