Wet Roads

Posted on 12th September 2018 at 09:09

Several fender-benders were reported yesterday as several strong storm cells rolled through the area. Lightning, thunder and extremely heavy rain rolled through yesterday afternoon; nearly six-tenths of an inch of rain was recorded at the Southwest Washington Regional Airport between noon and 6 pm yesterday. Local law enforcement issued alerts, warning drivers of the summer oil and debris being lifted on roadways, making for slick conditions, with extremely poor visibility. Clogged storm drains also made for miniature ponds at several intersections all around the city. We could have some similar conditions today. Local law enforcement reminds us all to drive with caution in these conditions; reduce your speed, increase following distances, and turn your headlights on so that you can be seen.
