Weyco Earnings

Posted on 31st July 2015 at 08:57

Weyerhaeuser is out with second-quarter earnings this morning, reporting a per-share earnings of 26 cents on revenues of $1.8 billion. That compares to earnings of 17 cents per share on revenues of $1.7 billion in the same period last year. Company officials say that sales volumes increased across the board, and they also saved some money on reduced manufacturing costs and “operational excellence initiatives.” Log costs were lower, but the higher sales volumes and lower costs were partially offset by lower sales in lumber and oriented strand board. Looking ahead to the third quarter, Weyco is looking at significantly higher earnings in the cellulose fiber sector, but they also anticipate that pulp sales may be lower than average. The company says that they are well-positioned to capitalize on the improving housing market.
