Kelso Police continue to investigate a car-versus-pedestrian collision that took place yesterday evening near the Kelso Public Library. They say that the collision took place at about 5:20 pm, as a 58 year-old woman was crossing 4th Avenue. Witnesses say that the woman had just left the Library, and was hit by a car that had just turned off Academy. It’s noted that it was dark, raining hard, and that the woman was not crossing in a crosswalk. First responders called for LifeFlight, but they informed the paramedics that the helicopter couldn’t fly, because of the weather. The woman was taken to St. John Medical Center on a full trauma alert, then was transferred to Oregon Health and Science University. She’s listed in serious condition this morning. Police are not releasing the woman’s name until family members have been notified. The officers investigating the collision say that the 58 year-old male driver has been cooperative. Based on the information available at this point, they say he does not appear to be at fault. An update should be released later today.
