After no response was received from seven voters whose ballots were “challenged” by Cowlitz County Elections, the margin in the Woodland City Council race between Scott Perry and Robert Ripp remains at just one vote, triggering an automatic hand recount. After yesterday’s 5 pm deadline, the tally stayed at 569 for Perry and 568 for Ripp. Cowlitz County Elections Supervisor Carolyn Myers tells the Daily News that final tallies in the November 8th general election will be certified today by the Canvassing Board, then that board will also set a date for the recount. She says that they’ll try to coordinate with Clark County so that the recounts in both counties can be done at the same time. The date for that recount will be announced later today.
