Nichole D. McCaslin, 32, of Portland is being charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault, after she allegedly caused a fatal multi-car crash Friday night on Tennant Way, resulting in the death of Brett Dawdy, 47, of Longview. At about 6:40 Friday night, calls started coming into 911 about a car going the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Tennant Way. Less than a minute later, it was reported that a serious collision had taken place near Lakeside Industries. Officers arrived and found that four vehicles had been involved, with the driver of one of those vehicles dead at the scene. That person was eventually identified as Dawdy. His wife and daughter were also seriously injured in the collision. A third person in Dawdy’s car was less-seriously injured. McCaslin was also taken to St. John Medical Center, where she was treated, released, and then was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail. Initial reports indicate that McCaslin was intoxicated at the time of the collision. The State Patrol is assisting with the investigation, which had the westbound lanes of Tennant Way closed until about 1:30 Saturday morning.
