Henry Kaut, 71, of Castle Rock is listed in satisfactory condition after he suffered head lacerations in a three-car crash reported yesterday afternoon on West Side Highway. State Troopers say that the crash happened at about 2:15 pm, three and a half miles north of Kelso. Traffic had slowed for the signal at Sparks Drive, but Kaut apparently did not slow down. He rear-ended Robert Ireton, 60, of Kelso, pushing his SUV into an SUV driven by Kyle Small, 24, of Longview. Small and Ireton weren’t hurt. A passenger in Kaut’s car was treated and released from the hospital. Troopers blame the crash on driver inattention, and they say Kaut is facing charges of following too closely and not wearing his seat belt.
